We are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium (MYLS) in Minnesota! MYLS was founded to build new foundations for Muslim high school and college students to become involved in community and public service in Minnesota. This leadership and empowerment program is a youth-led effort.
The core mission of MYLS is to provide American Muslim youth with a proactive agenda for positive activism; empower them to guide their communities from the margin to the mainstream; and foster a healthy American Muslim identity that fits comfortably within the pluralistic American society while true to its faith values.
MYLS will be held Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19, 2013. Space is limited to 50 students and an application must be completed to be considered for the program. Students selected for MYLS are required to attend both days.

Friday, October 18
Jewish-Muslim Student Mock Legislature at the Minnesota State Capitol
Students from both CAIR-MN’s MYLS and Jewish Community Action’s Seeds of Justice will serve as legislators as they debate public policy issues and prepare bills to be presented on the floor of the student-run mock legislature. The program will provide students with leadership skills and the tools to understand the legislative process.
Career Networking Dinner at Best Western Kelly Inn, St. Paul
Students will get an opportunity to network with Muslim professionals who work in diverse fields but are still engaged and active Muslim community leaders. Different careers include law, medicine, business, pharmacy, information technology, engineering, teaching, media and more.
Saturday, October 19
Leadership & Empowerment Conference at Hamline University
The full-day program will provide students an opportunity to explore their leadership. Topics include civic engagement, Islamophobia, media, civil rights, public speaking, leadership, identity, interfaith, law and more.
